Blending Luxury and Functionality with Cabinet Refacing
Home » Cabinet Refacing to Create a Modern Kitchen
The Challenge: Dated Cabinetry Fell Short of Aesthetic Goals.
In this project, the homeowners wanted to create a more modern feel to their kitchen as the existing dark cabinets made the kitchen feel closed in and dated. They also wanted to center the kitchen around their island, using it as a focal point in addition to a functional area for eating, storage, and food preparation.
The Goal: Achieve a Contemporary Design
All of our projects start with a consultation with the homeowner to discuss the scope of the project and their goals. The frames of the cabinets and island were in excellent condition, so we determined that cabinet refacing would be the best option to achieve a contemporary look in their kitchen.
The Results: A Blend of Modern Luxury and Improved Functionality
Our Cabinet Refacing Process
We take an in-depth approach to cabinet refacing to ensure consistent, professional results with long-lasting beauty.
Our craftsmen remove the cabinet doors, drawer fronts, molding, and hardware from the existing cabinets and island and craft replacements by hand at our local workshop. We cut, construct, and finish each new door, front, and piece of molding, applying several coats of primer, then paint or stain to get a smooth, flawless finish.
At the same time, we follow the same process for the cabinet refacing, which are quarter-inch panels of natural wood that will be fitted over the existing frames to be the perfect match to the new cabinet doors and drawers.
When the materials are ready, our team took care to lay the finished wood over the existing cabinet boxes and frames to make sure that none of the old finish was visible. After the panels are properly adhered to, we attach the molding and drawer fronts and use soft-close hinges to attach the cabinet doors. At the end, we install the new cabinet hardware to complete the new look.
