Cabinet Refacing Project to Lighten the Kitchen with White Cabinets

The Challenge: Contrasting Materials Make for an Inconsistent Design Aesthetic
The homeowners reached out to us because their existing cabinets looked old, outdated, and worn down. The mix of combining dark wood with distressed wood made their kitchen design confusing and inconsistent, lacking any kind of unifying design features that complimented each other.

The Goal: Create a Light and Bright Kitchen with Consistent Design Features
Working closely with the homeowners, we created a plan to resurface their cabinetry while aiming for a modern, clean look that would brighten up their space. Since their existing backsplash is made of white subway tiling and is in good condition, we agreed to continue the concept of using the color white to unify the space from top to bottom.

Resurfacing the cabinetry along the walls as well as the siding of the freestanding island in a bright, clean, refreshing, and crisp white allows the space to look bigger.

In addition to feeling like the kitchen square footage increased just by a color change and resurfacing application, the space feels more open and airy. Additionally, we added new, black modern hardware to the cabinetry as a way to break up the extreme white with the accent of a darker, contrasting color.

This once outdated, uninviting space is now a welcoming room in the home where the family can gather to spend time together.
The Results: A Beautiful, White, Bright New Kitchen Design
