In this project, the homeowners wanted to create a modern luxury aesthetic, while improving the functionality of their cabinets. The existing cabinets were a builder-grade “honey oak” color which didn’t match their preferences. There were also several cabinets that didn’t meet their needs, and they wanted to repurpose them in a way that better suited their lifestyle.
The Goal: Create an Appealing Yet Efficient Kitchen
During the consultation with the homeowners, we created a plan that would achieve a stunning kitchen transformation, evoking a high-end contemporary design style and improving the functionality of rarely used storage.
The Results: A Kitchen That’s Both Attractive and Efficient
In addition to cabinet refacing and installing new hardware and pulls, you’ll see we installed beautiful crown molding along the top of the cabinets to create a more modern look. To improve the functionality of the kitchen, we modified the existing cabinets under the kitchen window to make space for the homeowners’ wine fridge, while we replaced the cabinet b3side the stove with three doors.
Our Cabinet Refacing and Custom Updating Process
Throughout the kitchen, we did a complete cabinet refacing. During this process, we remove all the hardware, molding, drawer fronts, and cabinet doors. At our local workshop, we handcraft new doors, drawer fronts, and molding along with quarter-inch natural wood panels. We take great care in cutting and constructing each piece to ensure a uniform appearance, then carefully apply several layers of high-quality primer and paint for a smooth, flawless finish that will hold up to the high traffic kitchen.
Once the materials are ready for installation, our craftsmen carefully lay the new wood panels over the existing cabinets, completely covering the old frames. This is then followed by installing the new drawer fronts and cabinet doors with soft-close hinges.
